Signs You’ll Be Fired

There are many signs and flags that will be waving right in front of you warning you to “turn back” because you are on the track to getting fired.

Here are five of them.

1) They’re writing about you.
Depending on the size and organizational structure of your employer, one of the first signs you’ll be fired is the start of (or increase in) the number of “write ups” you get for infractions you have made against company policy. If you have been with the same employer for years but they are just now starting to write up official forms on you for tardies, dress code issues, customer complaints, or any work code violations, they are undoubtedly trying to protect themselves by creating a documented portfolio of reasons they will be justified in letting you go.

2) There’s a new kid in town.
If you are being asked to teach a new employee your job, that’s a flag! Perhaps your employer has hinted they want to use your skills and talent somewhere else in the company and need you to mentor the new employee. If you have not been told specifically what (or where) your “new” position will be, that’s a sign they are probably getting ready to let you go.

3) You screwed up.
You’ve come to work drunk, hungover, late, or unprepared. You tried to stick a knife in the back of a colleague out of greed. You slept with the boss who is married to someone else. You stole something that belongs to someone else. You screwed up. Yep, these are signs you’ll be fired.

4) No one likes you.
You whine a lot. You gossip a lot. You lie. You cheat. You steal. You complain a lot. You can’t be trusted. You have no integrity. You are self-absorbed. You get the idea. How the heck did you get hired in the first place?

5) Your boss stops acknowledging your existence.
You used to be the “go to” person. The idea guy. Your boss was always brainstorming with you and asking you for your ideas, input, and help on projects. But not any more. For whatever reason(s), truly known only to and felt by the person making the decision to rid you from his life, he is no longer going to tell you about or want your input into any future projects. Or, perhaps he just doesn’t acknowledge you anymore because he knows your days at the company are numbered. So it no longer matters if you’re late, if you are not a person of character or integrity, or if you didn’t meet the deadline. As soon as the security guard gets back from his lunch, you’re outta there!

Check out other reasons they are going to give you the boot.
